PRP/PRF
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) are advanced regenerative treatments that utilize the body’s natural healing properties to rejuvenate the skin and promote hair restoration. Both treatments involve extracting a small amount of the patient’s blood, processing it to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, and then reintroducing it into targeted areas to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and encourage hair follicle regeneration.
In addition to their regenerative benefits for skin and hair, PRP and PRF are widely used by surgeons and medical practitioners to promote the healing of muscles, tissues, and wounds. They are also utilized for vaginal rejuvenation, helping to improve bladder control and enhance sensitivity as well as playing a role in fertility treatments for ovarian and uterine conditions.
While PRP and PRF share similar principles, they differ in their composition and release of growth factors. PRP is processed using anticoagulants, resulting in a thinner consistency with an immediate release of growth factors, making it effective for stimulating collagen and improving skin tone. PRF on the other hand, is an advanced, second-generation platelet concentrate that builds upon the benefits of PRP with a longer, more sustained release of growth factors. Unlike PRP, PRF is prepared without anticoagulants, allowing it to form a natural fibrin matrix that holds platelets and white blood cells in place. This results in a slower, prolonged healing and rejuvenation process, making PRF particularly effective for deeper tissue regeneration, volume restoration, deeper wrinkles, and more severe skin laxity.
Both treatments are natural, biocompatible options with minimal risk, making them suitable for those seeking to restore volume, improve skin texture, or combat hair thinning using the body’s own regenerative potential.

FAQ’s
-
Welcome! It is not necessary to book a separate consultation in addition to treatment time. Each appointment is flexible and includes ample consultation time. Of course, if you are unsure and would like some time to think your options over before proceeding, you are more than welcome to book in for a no-obligation consultation.
-
Each PRP appointment takes approximately 30 minutes, including consultation time. The actual injecting component generally only takes a few minutes depending on the area being treated. Please allow approximately 60 minutes due to the unpredictable nature of medical appointments.
-
After thorough consultation, your blood is taken via a very small needle. This is then placed in a centrifuge, where your “liquid gold” PRP or PRF are separated from your red blood cells. This PRP or PRF is collected and reinjected into your areas of concern.
-
Immediately post treatment, slight localised swelling and bruising may be present. Because the collagen stimulating effects of the PRP/PRF occur over time, results are best seen at approximately the 4-6 week. A course of 4-6 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart are recommended for best results.
-
Beyond a certain age, our body is constantly losing collagen, so once a desired level of skin improvement has been reached, repeat treatments are recommended every 6-12 months.
-
Minor bruising or swelling is common following PRP treatment. Rarely, this can be severe and may take over a week to completely heal. Therefore, it is recommended treatment is conducted at least a few weeks before any important events. If you bruise easily, you may be at higher risk of bruising. The risk of bruising may be lessened by avoiding blood-thinning vitamins, medications and foods for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. Intense exercise, caffeine and alcohol should be also be avoided for 24 hours prior to and post treatment.
-
PRP treatments are very safe, however as with any medical procedure, may present rare, but possible side-effects. These are discussed in detail during consultation and include the possibility of ongoing swelling, bruising, lumps, infection, and very rarely, occlusion or temporary nerve damage. All potential risks and side-effects are discussed in detail during each appointment.
-
It is preferable you attend your appointment make-up free. If this is not possible, makeup in the targeted areas will be removed by our practitioners prior to treatment. If you wish to minimise your chances of bruising, it is also recommended that, where medically suitable, you avoid blood thinning medications and vitamins for 1-2 weeks prior. You should also avoid alcohol and caffeine in the preceding 24 hours and not partake in any heat inducing activities, such as heavy workouts, the day of treatment. To ensure optimal PRP/PRF quality, please limit processed or unhealthy foods and alcohol at least 1 week prior to your appointment.
-

-
A very strong numbing cream is applied topically and the PRP is injected gently, however due to the stingy nature of the product, slight discomfort is expected. The treatment is very quick, and for the most part, very tolerable.

Due to Australian TGA regulations, we are unable to publish specific prices for cosmetic medicine treatments online. Treatment costs can only be discussed following a personalised consultation, where your individual needs and suitability are assessed. This legislation, introduced in 2024, has changed the way cosmetic practitioners may advertise and communicate treatment information. We understand this may feel inconvenient, and we appreciate your understanding as we uphold these compliance requirements while continuing to prioritise transparency, safety, and patient care.
